Lift Refurbishment

Tighter budget restrictions and increased demand to save the environment by looking to reuse materials has led to a surge in the need for Lift refurbishment rather than replacement. More often than not clients are looking to retain equipment wherever necessary and Curti lifts are happy to work in partnership with you to maximise the benefits of the current lift installation such as:

  • Increase the overall value of the property.
  • Cut energy costs.
  • Significantly decrease call outs and expensive repair costs
  • Extend the lifetime of the current lift
  • Comply with the latest safety regulations

The Right Work

Our qualified team of engineers can identify what actually needs to be done, separating the necessary part replacements from the working lift components still fit for purpose. A lift well cared for and maintained properly can continue to function for decades. To meet clients’ expectations a ‘back to factory’ refurbishment may be requested but when it comes to lifts, it may simply be a matter of replacing older components with new equivalents that will produce significant results, while a cosmetic cabin panel replacement will offer the client the fresh clean look he/she is looking for. Energy efficiency can also be a contributing factor so a new hydraulic drive system may be in order or a VVVF retrofit.

All site surveys follow a 74 point checklist so we can produce a comprehensive guide on the options available – keeping in mind current legislation, client preferences and of course budget.

Sympathetic Restoration

Some lifts have been in operation for decades and carry with them a sentimental view of the buildings history. Examples of these can be found in listed buildings and public historical buildings. In this instance the scope of work needs to be limited to what each individual lift actually requires. No attempt is made to replace anything; rather, the focus is on the condition of the components and cabin. Everything is inspected, cleaned and repaired as needed, with faulty parts replaced only where repairs are not possible and with similar components. During this type of refurbishment the integrity of the lift is maintained.
