New lift at high-tech Manchester Mcdonald’s

At Curti Lifts, we regularly install equipment for high-profile clients, and most recently we were commissioned by McDonalds to install a lift at their brand new, high-tech Manchester branch.

The new store, situated in the heart of Piccadilly Gardens, one of the city’s busiest areas, is spread over three stories and opened its doors towards the end of 2015. The branch comes complete with self-service screens, contactless payment, Samsung tablets for customers to use while they’re eating – and of course, its very own Curti Lift.

The team behind the high-tech store, Marcon Fit-Out, asked us to install a hydraulic platform space-saving lift to help customers in wheelchairs or with prams to navigate the three floors of the store more easily. The top floor of the restaurant houses the toilets, the central floor (at street level) houses the tills, and there’s further seating below, so it’s entirely plausible that customers might need to use all three floors at some point during their visit.

McDonalds specified a space-saving lift to keep the store spacious, and they were also looking for a cost-effective lift that was easy-to-use and aesthetically pleasing. The lift was Disability Discrimination Act compliant and took just two weeks to install before the grand opening of the store back in October.

The McDonalds branch has now been open for just over six months, and the lift has been a great success within the store. As far as installations go, this was a very straightforward operation, with a clear brief from the client and a two-week window in which we could complete the installation.
